You are a mighty force. And together, we are even mightier.
I’ve been saying it for years, ever since I created Mighty Forces back in 2017:
“You are a mighty force.”
I put it on mugs for my clients, mugs that they still show up drinking from on our Zoom calls together. I put it on journals. I said it on social media. I put it on stickers I handed out at SXSW.
Me getting ready to hand out stickers at a meeting with other entrepreneurs in New York’s Hudson Valley
But what does it mean, really, to be a mighty force?
And how do you I know you’re a mighty force, if we’ve never met?
I just do.
I believe every person has power inside of them. Not the formal kind of power that our society doles out, but innate, creative power.
Now, the word “creative” bugs me, because it’s the right word, but also, it’s not. Because I don’t mean we’re all “creative” in the sense of arts-and-crafts. I mean “creative” in the sense that we make (create) choices, and those choices make a life, and a world.
We have agency.
I know this is a moment when a lot of people are feeling more powerless than ever before. I know a lot of people have felt powerless for a very long time.
I also know that history is filled with stories of people who, despite grim or horrific circumstances, reached deep inside of themselves to make bold choices. They exercised their agency in ways that elevated not only their own lives, but also other people’s.
I believe agency is always possible.
I believe there is power inside of you.
Even though we’ve never met.
The together part
“And together, we are even mightier” — I’ve been saying this part for years, too. It came to the party later, but it’s been in the mix for a long time. In some ways, it’s the clearer part of the message. As the African proverb says, “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” Or, as the saying goes, “A rising tide lifts all boats.”
We’re stronger together, right? That makes intuitive sense.
But do we really believe it?
And if we believe it… do we act like we believe it?
They acted like they believed it in Minnesota last year. And the world was riveted.
And yet, so often, we forget our interconnection. We think we belong only to ourselves, to our separate family units, our geographies, or religions. To our personal histories and identities.
And we suffer.
We don’t have to move through life this way.
Some mighty forces with our “You Are a Mighty Force” mugs on Zoom (that’s me, upper right, a couple hairstyles and glasses ago!)
We can look at each other and see all that divides us, or we can look at each other and see, “Hey, there’s someone else with energy and power inside of them. I wonder what we might be able to create, together?”
That is what Mighty Forces stands for: for using our creative power, together.
For getting out of our own way, and expressing what’s there inside of us to be expressed, with other people.
The invitation
Maybe you already see yourself as a mighty force. Maybe you’re tired of doing it alone, and are ready for support that meets you in your mightiness, helping you sustain your energy and do the things that matter most.
Or maybe what I’ve said here stirs something inside of you, and makes you want to claim your mightiness — to take a bigger step towards it. Maybe you need loving, consistent, highly attuned support to help you build your confidence, your courage, and your commitment.
Or maybe, it’s a little bit of column A, and a little bit of column B.
In my experience, most of us toggle between feeling incredibly powerful and full of ambition, and wanting to curl up under a weighted blanket and hide out from the world. That’s why being part of an ongoing container that teaches you how to both activate and sustain your mightiness is so supportive, and transformational. It helps you rest when you need to rest, and then it helps you rise to the fullest expression of your vision for your life, your work, and the world. Rinse, repeat.
I offer a short-term container focused on the activation part of this equation, for when it’s time to rally, focus, and do the thing. And I offer a long-term container, or membership, filled with tools and services to both sustain and activate you; as a member of Mighty Forces, you will steep in the belonging that comes from being with people and in spaces where your real, authentic self is not only tolerated, she comes alive.
I’ll end where I began:
You are a mighty force.
And together, we are even mightier.
